Kedron Brook Wetlands Reserve

The reserve is dominated by shallow freshwater lagoons, marshes, and seasonally inundated areas. These wetlands provide habitat for waterbirds, frogs, fish, and aquatic invertebrates. Water levels vary throughout the year in response to rainfall and flooding. The wetlands form part of the lower floodplain of Kedron Brook, a 29 km waterway that flows from the D’Aguilar Range to Moreton Bay. The floodplain stores and slows floodwaters, helping to reduce downstream flooding while maintaining wetland habitats. The wetlands are a well known habitat for Australasian Grass-Owl.

Target species: Red-necked Avocet, Pied Stilt, Glossy Ibis, Red-kneed Dotterel
