American Pectoral Sandpiper, Pouter-shorebird.

Distribution

Australia: Recorded in Queensland, Northern Territory, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia and Western Australia.  Mostly recorded in the eastern states.

Migratory habits

From the high Arctic this species migrates through the Americas to winter in southern South America.  A slight deviation will lead to birds tracking down to Australia.

Breeding

Breeds in the high Arctic of Russia, Alaska and Canada to the Hudson Bay.

Regular visitor.
