Catch Report for the 10th August 2013 at the Port of Brisbane
Following an extraordinary influx of Red-kneed Dotterel to the coast during the winter finally a flock was located (some 300+ birds) in mangroves at Lytton Claypan that could be mist-netted.
Ten 18 metre wader nets were set at dusk and the birds gathered in a large flock in the middle of the claypan to roost with 23 caught in 3 separate net rounds as the birds flew around the site settling into roost. Of the 23 birds all bar three were juveniles.
The totals caught are in the table below:-

Thanks to all who attended for making the evening entertaining, despite the enormous amount of mud that appeared to cover all equipment and people by the end of the evening, and thanks to the Port of Brisbane for allowing access. Please keep an eye out for them around the region as they start to move away from the coast in the next few months.
