Pine River – Osprey House

Site information:

Osprey House Environmental Centre is located on the north bank of the Pine River.  A mangrove boardwalk leads to a bird hide overlooking the river and during summer, a good variety of waders can be observed.  Common Sandpiper, an uncommon species in south-east Queensland, has been seen here.

 How to get there: Pine River lays about 20 km north of Brisbane.  To get to Osprey House from Brisbane, drive north on the Bruce Highway and take the first exit left after crossing Pine River.  Very soon there is a right turn into Dohles Rocks Road.  Follow this road for about 3 km.

 From the Sunshine Coast, access to Osprey House is via Anzac Avenue then Brays Road, which leads into Dohles Rocks Road.

 Amenities/access: Toilets and picnic facilities are located at Osprey House. This site is easily accessible for disabled people.

 Site coordinates: Lat 27º 16’ 39” S, Long 153º 02’ 00” E.

 Wader species: Bar-tailed Godwit, Black-tailed Godwit, Black-winged Stilt, Whimbrel, Eastern Curlew, Common Greenshank, Great Knot and Masked Lapwing.
