This section of our site will give you a wide range of information about waders, or shorebirds as they are often known. The section on “what is a shorebird” will demonstrate what a diverse group of birds the waders are while the section on migration will show how far some of our migratory shorebirds travel to visit Australia.
We also have a section on the species of waders. Each wader species has its own page and there are notes on behaviour, key identification features and a range of images to aid identification, to which we are adding new images all the time to create a shorebird image library.
Please do note that the images used on the site are copyrighted, if you want to use any of them for presentations please ask for permission before doing so. You can do this by contacting the Web administrator who will speak to the photographer and make sure that your request is OK.
